About

I’m Brandon and this is where I write about topics, ideas, and resources in music that I think are inspiring. During my undergraduate studies (I studied music theory and composition with a minor in cultural anthropology), I was intrigued by the idea that cross-disciplinary explorations can lead to more innovative thinking. My graduate work took me to study ethnomusicology in Thailand where I gained appreciation for fact that there are many different ways to approach music and life!

This site is about following curiosity in the wider world of music theory. I explore these ideas through composers, analyzing music, digging into musical resources outside the Western music tradition, and publishing my own ruminations as I learn.

My aim is to inspire a few “ah ha” moments and contribute to the spread of musical knowledge.
